The Tyne & Wear and Northumberland New Technology Institute (NTI) was established in 2002 as a result of a Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) initiative to fund the establishment of state-of-the-art IT training facilities throughout the UK.
The Tyne & Wear and Northumberland NTI has been instrumental in the establishment of new computing laboratories in the School of Computing and Technology. The School, based at the University of Sunderland's award winning St. Peter's riverside campus, boasts one of the most modern and best equipped computing environments in the UK.
